Ray Keith
Ray Keith is a pioneering jungle and drum & bass DJ, producer, and label owner, celebrated as one of the genre’s true originators.
Starting out in the 1980s as a soul, funk, and hip-hop DJ, he transitioned into acid house and rave before becoming a central figure in the birth of jungle.
He first rose to prominence with remixes such as Orbital’s “Chime” (1994), and quickly became known for his dark, bass-heavy productions that defined the jungle sound.
His track “Terrorist” (Moving Shadow, 1994) remains one of the scene’s most influential anthems.
In 1994, he founded Dread Recordings, a label that has championed heavyweight jungle and drum & bass for over three decades, releasing music from himself and artists including Bladerunner, Serum, and Kenny Ken.
He has also recorded under aliases such as Renegade, Armageddon, and Dark Soldier.
With a career spanning 30+ years, Ray Keith has played at the world’s leading clubs and festivals, while continuing to release new music, mentor upcoming artists, and preserve the legacy of jungle culture.
