Mr. C started his career in the mid-1980s as a DJ, heavily influenced by hip-hop, reggae, and acid house.
He quickly became a key player in London's underground dance music scene, DJing at warehouse parties and underground raves.
His breakthrough came when he joined The Shamen, a British electronic music group known for blending house, techno, and psychedelic sounds.
Mr. C became their frontman and rapper, helping shape their energetic and rebellious image.
The Shamen became pioneers of UK rave culture, mixing electronic beats with socially conscious lyrics.
Their most famous track, "Ebeneezer Goode" (1992), topped the UK Singles Chart.
Despite its controversial references to drug culture (notably ecstasy), the track became a defining anthem of the early '90s rave movement.
Other hits included "Move Any Mountain" and "LSI (Love Sex Intelligence)," both of which pushed the boundaries of electronic music in the mainstream.
In 1995, Mr. C co-founded The End, a legendary London nightclub known for its innovative sound system and forward-thinking programming.
The venue hosted some of the best house and techno DJs in the world before closing in 2009.
He also launched Plink Plonk Records, a key label in London's acid house and techno movements.
After The End closed, Mr. C focused on his Superfreq brand, which started as a party series and evolved into a record label.
Superfreq became known for cutting-edge techno and minimal house music, hosting events worldwide, including in London, Ibiza, and Los Angeles.
He has remained a respected DJ, playing at major festivals and underground clubs across the globe.
Mr. C is considered a pioneer of acid house and UK rave culture, influencing countless DJs and producers.
His work with The Shamen bridged the gap between underground rave music and the mainstream, bringing electronic sounds to a wider audience.
