Marshall Jefferson

Marshall Jefferson is an American house music producer, songwriter, and DJ widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of house music.
Emerging from Chicago’s underground club scene in the mid-1980s, he helped shape the genre’s early sound and emotional depth.

Jefferson is best known for his 1986 classic “Move Your Body (The House Music Anthem)”, a pioneering track that fused driving drum machine rhythms with uplifting piano riffs and gospel-inspired vocals.
The record became a defining anthem of house music and played a key role in spreading the Chicago sound to clubs in New York and the UK.

Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, Jefferson produced and remixed for numerous artists, helping bridge house with elements of deep house and acid house.
His work influenced a generation of producers and DJs, both in the United States and internationally.

Often called the “Godfather of House,” Jefferson remains active as a DJ and producer, continuing to perform worldwide while preserving the legacy and spirit of Chicago house music.
