LTJ Bukem

Danny Williamson

LTJ Bukem is a British DJ, producer, and label founder best known for shaping the “intelligent” and atmospheric side of drum and bass.
Born in Watford, England, Bukem originally trained as a classical pianist before turning to DJing in the late 1980s.
His early exposure to jazz, funk, and soul profoundly influenced his musical direction, blending lush harmonies and breakbeats into a new, melodic form of jungle music.

Professionally, Bukem gained recognition with seminal releases like “Demon’s Theme” (1992) and “Horizons” (1995), which helped define the liquid and jazzy drum and bass subgenres.
He founded Good Looking Records in 1991, a label that became central to the scene and launched artists such as PFM, Blu Mar Ten, and Seba.
His celebrated Logical Progression mix series and global touring brought the smooth, cinematic sound of Bukem to audiences beyond the underground rave circuit.

Privately, Bukem is known to keep his personal life low-profile.
He continues to live a grounded lifestyle focused on creativity, spirituality, and musical evolution.
Despite avoiding mainstream celebrity culture, he remains a highly respected figure in electronic music for his integrity, consistency, and pioneering vision.
